Crafty Mama's Still Alive

I haven't been sewing much lately. Bella's only in school two afternoons a week now so that cuts down on my sewing time and I just haven't been feeling very creative or motivated. I finished up a custom order for my mom last week, a baby shower gift for one of her coworkers. I'm hoping to list some personalized onesies and burp cloths on Etsy later today and will also be listing some Halloween and Christmas goodies so check back in the next few days.

Woohoo! New fabric is here!

Damn, www.cabbagerosequilting.com has super fast shipping. I swear, I ordered and it was here in an hour. Ok, maybe not that fast, but still impressive. Of course, there are very few things that excite me more than new fabric so I had to get to sewing right away.
I made this bag last night and also finished another one that I need to post once I get pics today. I thought it would sell right away on Etsy because Amy Butler is so popular and there are very few bags out there right now with the Nigella fabric, but I guess I was wrong. The fabric is more expensive, almost twice as much as AB's other fabrics, because it's decor weight. So, the higher price is of course, reflected in the price of the bags so that may put them out of some buyers' price range.
On a side note, Bella, my 3 1/2 year old has been insisting on posing with the bags when I take pictures. Of course I won't include the pics in my Etsy listings but might share them here.

New fabric on the way:)

In an effort to prove I'm not taking a break from sewing forever, I've ordered new fabric. It's from Amy Butler's new Nigella collection and is slowing being released to stores bit by bit so I don't know when I'll get my entire order. I love the earthy colors with little pops of brighter colors.

I fully intended to get back to sewing this week but just haven't been able to. I don't know if my children are just more active and destructive than ever right now or I've been spending too much time enjoying the outdoors, but our house (and it's lack of organization) is still in need of attention. Today's goal is to find the source of the stank in the pantry. Anyone want to make a guess? Maybe tonight I can whip something up in the sewing room:)

Taking the next week off

I'm hoping to force myself to take the next week off to catch up on some stuff around the house (like the 10 piles of clothes throughout our home that need to be put away). I'll still be online, checking emails and shipping bags but probably won't list anything new for about a week.

Wednesday's Bags for Etsy

I've been able to get back into sewing yesterday and today. This first bag is a new fabric I bought a few weeks ago at Betty's and kept going back and forth on whether to get it. Since it went with those freakin Amy Butler dots I use on every bag, I had to buy it. I haven't done a little girl's bag in a while and was kind of in the mood for something quick and fun. I'm really happy with the end result but the Easter little girl's bag I did never sold and it was way cuter so I'm not getting my hopes up.

What I worked on last week

I swear I wasn't just sitting on my ass last week. I didn't sew as much as I'd like to but I was able to complete a custom order for one of my mom's teacher friends and a monogrammed bag for my niece's birthday. I liked the bag so much, I made one for myself and already used it for an out of town trip last weekend. We'll be out of town yet again this weekend so no sewing for a few days. Side note about Crafty Mama...I hate traveling. I think the fact that it takes a half a day to pack and then what seems like a week to unpack (when you have young kids) just ruins the whole idea of travel being fun. That, and we don't really go anywhere fun. Just to the hotter than hell central valley to visit family. Ok, enough ranting, I'll just try to focus on looking forward to our camping trip in August.

This Week's Bags

I'm a little behind on my blogging, but here are my bags for Etsy this week. I seem to be in a tropical floral mood.

I think my sewing is going to slow down a little for the summer. We have a lot of weekend trips planned (too many, and not fun enough, if you ask me) and Bella's school schedule is going to change soon which will cut down my sewing time.
