One small step for Matea...

one giant leap for motherhood. This freakin dress/top has been a thorn in my side for over a week now. I made it last week, and didn't use a pattern, thank you very much. I was insanely pleased and proud of myself, probably too much so. And guess what...the freakin kid wouldn't wear it! I tried it on her right after I finished and she threw herself on the floor screaming. She ended up choosing to take an early nap rather than stop crying and let me take a picture of her new outfit.

Since then, I've tried to put it on her everyday and have had zero success. Crafty Papa suggested that I put it in a bag and pretend like I bought it since she seemed most upset by the idea that I made it (She kept screaming, "Nooooooooo Mommy Shirt!"). I decided that today would be my last attempt and that if she didn't suck it up and wear it, I was going to make matching bloomers and list it in my shop.

I guess the thought of another little two year old girl wearing "Mommy's Shirt" was enough to wear her down and she finally put it on. Five minutes later, she conveniently spilled water all over it and insisted I take it off of her so I really think this whole thing is some psychological game that she's winning.

Also, while I have you, not that I've ever had you (name that line...I want to know tv show, who said it, and the episode), it's so freakin hot where I live right now. I live at the beach. I pay big bucks to live in a manufactured estate about a mile from the beach so I can enjoy the coastal air and cooling marine layer. I did not pay for 100 degree temps with no air conditioning and a house that is already 88 degrees at 11:00.

You did a great job on the top without a pattern-pretty impressive! It's good to know my girls aren't the only ones that refuse to wear the clothing I make them unless there's a bribe involved.

I think it is so funny that your girls won't wear the clothes you make them, especially since Mama sews such cute things!
