Someone Save Me

I have a feeling this week is going to be insane in the membrane. Call me crazy, but the fact that I was hopping myself up on coffee at 7:00pm last night and day one of project tree repair was a complete disaster, doesn't set the stage well for the rest of the week.

I'm not going to bore you with all of the details, but lets just say there was absolutely no "construction" on day one of construction. And, now we're looking at maybe another week until things start up. But hey, when a tree fell through your house 8 1/2 weeks ago, what's another week, right? On the bright side though, waiting another week works much better for my trunk show prep.

Which brings me to my next point. I suddenly went into panic mode yesterday about the trunk show. I've made tons of beautiful items (trying to make some more for boys-see pics), took myself on a wardrobe shopping spree a few weeks ago so I have several great outfits to choose from, and believe I have lots of friends, family, and neighbors coming to the event. I've done a few events before and just kind of threw my stuff on the table. I really gave no thought to presentation and packaging. Now that's all I think about. I'm frantically trying to get some cute custom stickers here by Friday and Crafty Papa was up until after midnight last night looking at hangers online. I blame Mari, I really do:) And I'll admit, it totally makes a difference. I really think my items look so much more finished and professional with the ribbon, hang tag, label, blah, blah, blah. I just wish I could go to someone and say "Here's my funky birdie, my info., and my green, now you make everything and have it to me tomorrow." I'm sure someone could do that for me but probably not for free.

Ok, last thing for today. I was emailing an old friend this morning and remembered something you guys might find funny. In high school, everyone had to take wood/metal shop or home ec. Guess which one I took. No way in hell was I going to waste my time learning to sew and cook and be a domestic goddess. I was going to be a bilingual lawyer specializing in women's rights! Yep, I was a 15 year old feminist. So, I took shop because that seemed tougher and made more of a statement. And here I am, 10 years later, a stay at home mom who has a homemade meal on the table every night, makes her own chemical-free household cleaners, grows veggies and fruits, and is heading up a little sewing business. How did I get here? I hope someone else out there is fighting for women's rights.

Since you mentioned looking for some hangers, I thought I'd mention that I saw some adorable hangers at Target in the One Spot. They were wooden and are painted pink with white polka dots and have a little wooden painted butterfly in the center of the hanger. It comes in a pack of 2 for only $1. Really cute!

Good luck at the show-all of your items are really cute. I haven't been to a trunk show before, sounds interesting.

What?! Crap. I was just at Target and don't remember seeing those. And the closest Target is 30 minutes away. I know I have no idea who you are, but why don't you just buy a dozen for me, fly out here and drop them off. And while you're here, you could also go to the trunk show.

You are a sewing animal. Those are gorgeous baby items and those boy sets are going to be a big hit. I can't wait to see what you do next!

LOL. Did I ever tell you what I taught before I quit to stay at home???

I just want to tell you that, even though it may not seem like it, you ARE making a difference in the lives of women. Future women. You are setting a great example for your girls - showing them how to be strong women, instilling love and pride and modeling the entrepreurial spirit.

Oh, and the stuff is ADORABLE! Glad to see some boy stuff in there!!!
